Abstract

Tarwi (Lupinus mutabilis Sweet), belonging to the Fabaceae family, adapts to different climatic zones, and its grain has a high protein content, making it an important food source. The objective of this study was to evaluate the morphological and agronomic characteristics of L. mutabilis genotypes under the conditions of La Jalca, Amazonas, Peru. To this end, two varieties and four genotypes from farmers in the La Jalca district were evaluated. Sixty-four morpho-agronomic traits were used in a randomized complete block design with four replications. The agronomic and production traits evaluated in this study showed significant differences among the genotypes, which exhibited higher values compared to the tarwi varieties. Seed yield showed a high correlation with six agronomic and six quantitative traits. These findings could be used in the future to select tarwi genotypes with higher grain yields.
